Tsujiri Tea House

Tsujiri comes from a long line of traditional tea brands in Japan fronted by Riemon Tsuji back in 1860. Ever since then they have been the heralds of great Matcha Tea and deserts alike, but what makes them stand out is the variety in which their services are available. The premise is located on Shijo Dori, on the first floor you can even get souvenirs, ice cream, and drinks for takeaway. The second floor was designed for dining. Here you can order magnificent creations as Chiffon Cake Parfait or Marcha Parfait whose jungle green color makes it an appealing dessert, oh and do try the Glutinous rice balls with Warambimochi which is a type of jelly processed from bracken starch. You will no doubt have a wonderful time since everything blends in so well together!

Izutsu Yatsuhashi

Who can ever claim that they had a candy design in their name? Probably not many but this is not the case if you are referring to Izutsu Yatsuhashi a famous koto player who shortly after his passing at age 72 was commemorated with a candy in shape of a koto instrument which then was sold on the route to Shogoin Store. Nowadays you can purchase this candy in Teramachi street in Kawarmachu. The cafe was also named after the koto player a really quiescent place where you can try all sorts of green teas and cake sets. The shop also offers a wide variety of the koto instrument candy with flavors like sesame or green tea!

Gochio café is actually run by a matcha farmer and his desire was to let people have a taste of what e considers true single origin matcha which doesn’t have other flavors involved.
