Free Wifi Cafe’s in Osaka

People tend to think of cafe culture as being a hugely western thing but, whilst it might have started that way, it has become a really big deal in countries in the East and especially Japan. Japan’s busiest city (second from Tokyo) is Osaka. Millions of people pass through it on a daily basis either for leisure or for work. It stands to reason then that lunch breaks and station commutes are full of people visiting cafe’s for their caffeine fix and maybe some food for their breakfasts, lunches or dinners even. There’s one thing missing though and that’s wifi, a lot of these business men need to stay connected to the internet with their smart phones and commuters like to have free wifi during train changes and groups of people simply hanging out with friends want to take pictures and upload them to social media platforms like Instagram or Facebook. So for this big bustling city we are going to show you just some of the very best of these cafes to get you recharged and get you online for free.

1.Wired Cafe Lucua

First up we have Wired Cafe Lucua. The brand Wired has many cafes in a lot of the major cities and even has two in Osaka, but this one is the stand out one because of its prime location. The location of this place is extremely close to the main station in Osaka so it is perfect for meeting up with friends for an afternoon of coffee and good food. Being situated on the seventh floor of Lucua you may think that it does not cater for the people amongst us that smoke but it does. It has a small little terraced area that is dedicated to smokers. The size of the cafe is quite large but doesn’t leave you feeling any less comforted by it because of its naturally warm atmosphere and decor and the fact it is so large means it can cater for lots of people and people who are dining as a large group. They of course have free wifi and great seating so if you need to do some work on your laptops you would feel very comfortable. And you cannot forget about the food, they have a wide range and even some fusion food between Japanese and western. You can be certain to have a very nice time at this cafe.

2.Brooklyn Roasting Company Kitahama

Second up is the possibly the most famous of all the cafe’s we are going to talk about today. It is the Brooklyn Roasting Company. Now a world wide brand the Brooklyn Roasting Company set up show in Osaka and locals and travellers alike have been flocking to the place to get some of the best coffee around. It has a really Urban feel of New York City in the United States of America. This makes the spot a very special place for the younger generations and students. They specialise in a wide variety of freshly ground coffee beans. The possibilities for a cup of coffee are almost endless. Their free wifi and amazing view of the river make it the perfect place to hang out with friends or get some work done or even some time to relax with a good e-book on your tablet device.

3.Nord Kaffe

Third up in this list is one that is very popular amongst the locals. Nord Kaffe is a brand of cafe’s that originated in Scandinavia (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland) and the cafe culture in this part of the world is very very huge. Their local meeting places mean a great deal to them and they wanted to share this with the Japanese. This is why it is so popular with the native people of Osaka. Don’t worry though they cater very well for travellers passing through and have lots of their menu written out in English. As you can see from the photo’s below it is the first cafe of the three so far that looks most like what you would think a traditional cafe would look like. If you want a little bit of Scandinavian tradition to your morning coffee then this is the place for you and with it being conveniently places in one of the buildings of the Osaka station it is very easy to get to when you need that quick cup of coffee before catching your train.

4.Bechamel Cafe

Next up we have the Bechamel Cafe which is my own personal favourite out of all the cafe’s listed here today. This place has a uniqueness not found in other cafe’s in Japan. It takes the traditional French style cafe, modernises it a little and sticks it right in the centre of Japan’s second city, Osaka. It is a really beautiful and warm place that will make you feel like you are in a restaurant as opposed to a cafe. The drinks are so wide in their variety you can get your regular cup of coffee or go for a milkshake or even a smoothie. The food is of the highest quality and they do both tradition french and a little Japanese food also with a nice little twist they sometimes stamp their food with their logo. This is one place you can connect to the wifi at and be amazed at how much time passes as it is as comfortable as being at home.

5.Planet3rd Shinshaibashi

Next up is the more modern Planet3rd. This is definitely a place where younger people go to hang out. It is a nice quaint little place with affordable coffee, lots of table space and free wifi. It is everything you want from a coffee shop but with ultra modern design and one of the biggest selling points of this cafe is the very generous opening and closing hours making sure you can get your coffee any time of the day.

They have a massive selection of coffee beans from around the world and we all know the Italians love a great cup of coffee or espresso. They even have booths with comfy seats that make it all the more relaxing when you are connected up to the wifi surfing the web. For a traditional cup of Italian coffee this is the place for you.
